Description of the data path
2 x full binning/4 x full binning/8 x full binning
If horizontal and vertical binning are combined, every 4 (16 or 64) pixels are
consolidated into a single pixel. At first two (4 or 8) vertical pixels are put
together and then combined horizontally.
This increases light sensitivity by a total of a factor of 4 (16 or 64) and at the
same time signal-to-noise separation is improved by about 6 (12 or 18) dB. Res-
olution is reduced, depending on the model.
By default and without further remapping use
Format_7 Mode_3
for
2 x full binning.
2 x full binning
4 x full binning
8 x full binning
Note
The image appears
horizontally
compressed in this mode and
does no longer show true aspect ratio.
If
horizontal binning
is activated the image may appear to be
over-exposed and must eventually be corrected.
