Alvium CSI-2 Cameras User Guide V2.6.2
Access modes
The driver for Alvium CSI-2 cameras supports two different access modes to suit
the various requirements of individual applications:
on page 164 shows how cameras are controlled using the different
access modes.
CSI-2 access mode
Description
Direct Register Access
Controls the camera by reading from and writing to registers, using an
embedded board or an FPGA. See the Direct Register Access Controls
Reference document at
www.alliedvision.com/en/support/technical-documentation/
alvium-csi-2-documentation.
Video4Linux Access
Controls the camera by V4L2 controls, using the Allied Vision driver for CSI-2
cameras directly.
Existing PC-based machine vision applications can be scaled down to V4L2 on
lean embedded systems, reducing power consumption and costs.
