The chassis slot codes, called “J” numbers, are etched to the left and slightly
beneath each connector receptacle. Each “J” number corresponds to a slot
position in the chassis. Some backplane models also have the slot numbers
etched in.

Figure 16 shows the location of the backplane when installed in the chassis.
The backplane shown in Figure 16 is for a 7-slot chassis.
