Chapter 5: Wiring the DC Connectors
66
Connecting the 48/60VDC or -48/-60VDC and RETURN Wires
The switch can use either 48/60VDC or -48/-60VDC. If you use positive
voltage, the negative RETURN wires must be tied to earthed ground at the
power plant. If you use negative voltage, the positive RETURN wires must
be tied to earthed ground at the power plant.
After installing the grounding wire, connect the 48/60VDC or -48/-60VDC
and RETURN wires by performing the following procedure:
Warning
As a safety precaution, install a circuit breaker with a minimum value
of 10 Amps between the equipment and the DC power source.
Always connect the wires to the LAN equipment first before
connecting the wires to the circuit breaker. Do not work with HOT
leads to avoid the danger of physical injury from electrical shock.
Always be sure that the circuit breaker is in the OFF position before
connecting the wires to the breaker.
E9
Warning
The power input must be provided by a SELV source only, per
IEC60950. Do not connect to a centralized DC battery bank.
E31
1. Use a 3mm flat-head screwdriver to loosen the two captive screws that
secure the DC connector to the chassis. Refer to Figure 27.
