Communicating with the
KFC15/KFCD15 Module
Read this chapter if you are configuring a half-duplex network or if
you plan to write a communication driver for the KFC15/KFCD15
module.
DF1 Communication
The KFC15/KFCD15 module supports both full-duplex and
half-duplex DF1 protocol between it and a host device. This protocol
can be used over either the serial or parallel interface to send PCCC
or ControlNet messages across the ControlNet cable system to other
nodes. For more information on PCCC messages refer to the
Allen-Bradley Data Highway/Data Highway Plus/Data Highway
485 Protocol and Command Set Reference Manual (1770-6.5.16).
The host device must send messages in a form that the end node it is
communicating with understands. The KFC15/KFCD15 module does
not translate between two types of messages. If the end node only
recognizes one type, the host device’s communication driver must
send the same form.
