WARNING! Danger from rotating appli-
ance parts!
Reaching into rotating appliance
parts will result in serious injuries!
■
Never reach into rotating parts.
■
Before starting to use the engine, observe
the operating instructions for the appliance.
■
Only start and allow the engine to run out-
doors.
■
Do not tilt the machine so far to the side that
fuel runs out of the fuel tank cap.
■
Tie up long hair and remove jewellery.
■
Do not wear loose clothing.
■
Wear sturdy, non-slip shoes.
■
Do not change the basic setting of the engine
or over-rev.
■
Switch off the engine and allow to cool down
before removing the tank cap.
■
Switch off the engine, allow it to cool and re-
move the spark plug cable before checking,
cleaning or working on the machine or en-
gine.
■
Wait until the engine has cooled down suffi-
ciently before touching the cylinder ribs and
protective housing.
■
Do not rotate the engine without a spark plug.

Stop the engine and switch off
■
Observe the safety regulations when starting.
■
Position the engine unit safely and securely.
■
Stand securely.

for the appliance.
Starting the engine
CAUTION! Risk of injury!
Danger of kick-
back: The starter cable can return faster to the
engine than the cable can be released.
■
Anticipate a sudden jolt when the starter ca-
ble has been pulled.
Position of the choke lever:
CHOKE
RUN
If the engine is cold:
1. Set the stop switch to the START/ON posi-
tion (see operating instructions of the appli-
ance).
2. Turn the choke lever (01/3) anticlockwise to
CHOKE.
3. Press the primer (01/4) 5 to 10 times until the
primer is filled with fuel.
4. Pull out the starter cable (01/2) briskly and
then allow it to wind back in slowly.
5. Turn the choke lever (01/3) clockwise to the
RUN position.
6. Warm up the engine at idling speed (see op-
erating instructions of the appliance).
When the engine is warm:
1. Set the stop switch to the START/ON posi-
tion (see operating instructions of the appli-
ance).
2. Turn the choke lever (01/3) clockwise to the
RUN position.
3. Pull out the starter cable (01/2) briskly and
then allow it to wind back in slowly.
With the engine running:
■
Do not place your hands and feet close to
any rotating parts.
■
Keep flammable objects from the exhaust
and the cylinder area.
■
Allow the exhaust, cylinder and cooling vanes
to cool down before contact.
Switching off the engine:
1. Set the stop switch to the STOP/OFF position
(see operating instructions of the appliance).
