Start-up
■
Before removing jammed branches, switch
off the appliance and wait until the cutting
blade has come to a standstill.
■
Remove the rechargeable battery from the
appliance and push the protective cover over
the cutting blade for:

Inspection, adjusting and cleaning work
■
Working on the cutting blade
■
Leaving the appliance
■
Transport
■
Storage
■
Maintenance and repair work

4 START-UP
4.1 Charging the rechargeable battery
Observe the temperature range for charging, see
technical data.
NOTE For detailed information, see the sep-
arate operating instructions for the rechargeable
battery and the charger:

4.2 Inserting and pulling out the
rechargeable battery (02)
IMPORTANT! Danger of damage to the re-
chargeable battery. If the rechargeable battery
is left in the appliance after use, it may damage
the rechargeable battery.
■
Immediately after use, pull the rechargeable
battery out of the appliance and store in a
frost-protected area.
■
Only insert the rechargeable battery in the
appliance immediately before starting work.
Inserting the rechargeable battery
1. Push the rechargeable battery (02/1) from
above (02/a) into the rechargeable battery
slot (02/2) until it engages.
Pull out the rechargeable battery
1. Press and hold the unlock button (02/3) on
the rechargeable battery.
2. Pulling out the rechargeable battery (02/b).
5 OPERATION
WARNING! Risk of injury due to detach-
ing appliance parts. Appliance parts detaching
during operation can lead to serious injury.

Never use the appliance when parts of the
appliance are loose or damaged.
5.1 Starting the hedge trimmer (03)
1. Stand securely.
2. Hold the front handle (03/1) with one hand
and the rear handle (03/2) with the other
hand.
3. Press the safety switch (03/3) on the front
handle (03/a), then press the ON/OFF switch
(03/4) on the rear handle (03/b). The appli-
ance starts.
4. Keep both buttons pressed while working.
The appliance switches off when the ON/OFF
switch is released.
5.2 Checking the charge status of the
rechargeable battery
The charge status indicator (01/2) is located on
the top of the hedge trimmer.
It has three segments. The segments light up or
flash, depending on the battery charge status.
Segment Battery charge level
3 segments lit: Rechargeable battery
fully charged.
2 segments lit: Rechargeable battery
2/3 charged.
1 segment lit: Rechargeable battery
1/3 charged.
1 segment flashing: Rechargeable battery
almost flat. The appli-
ance will switch off
shortly.
