1.7.3 Initializing the NAS System on a Mac
In order to configure and access the network drive, the NAS system has to be initialized first. To do
so, use the NAS builder to locate the device, prepare the hard drives and set up the system.
1. Make sure that at least one hard drive has been installed and the network drive is
connected to the local network.
2.
Press and hold the reset button
, turn on the power and let go of the reset button about 2
seconds later.
3. Wait for the green system LED to start flashing and then start the NAS builder from a
computer that is connected to the same local network as the network drive.
4. Go to the Utilities folder inside the Applications directory and start the
Terminal
.
5. Type
python
and hit Enter to check the current python version.
6. GDownload the
wxPython runtime
application that matches your python version.
7. Install wxPython on your Mac.
8. Decompress and store the
NAS Builder
on your Mac.
9. In the Terminal, change directories and go to the folder where you have stored the NAS
Builder. Type
cd
followed by the path to the NAS Builder directory.
