Installation
Water Termination
The unit waterside connection is a 1/2” BSP fitting. It shall be suitable for the following pipework termination types.
Water System
Chilled water pipework and ancillary components must be installed in accordance with National and Local Water supply
company standards and the manufacturer’s instructions when fitting ancillary components.
It is also required:
•
That the system water is treated to prevent corrosion and algae forming.
•
In ambients of 0°C and below, where static water can be expected or when water supply temperatures of +5°C or
below is required, the necessary concentration of Glycol or use of an electrical trace heater must be included.
•
The schematic is referred to as a guide to ancillary recommendations.
Option 1:
When designing the system, ensure one pressurisation unit is used for both circuits and the same static pressure is
seen at the pump inlet on both circuits (i.e. pumps on the same vertical level). On commissioning, ensure the same
glycol concentration is used in both circuits.
Option 2:
When designing the system, ensure one pressurisation unit is used for both circuits and the same static pressure is
seen at the pump inlet on both circuits (i.e. pumps on the same vertical level). Integrate an intermediate heat exchanger
on the cooling circuit so that the glycol solution is contained within the system
(see basic system layout for reference).
On units where the heating and cooling circuits share a heat exchanger, there is the potential
for inhibitors and glycol to migrate from one circuit to another. See options below for the control
measures available to prevent this.
CAUTION
Glycol should be added at a sufficient distance away from the pump. Always ensure glycol is
added to the discharge side of the pump whilst the pump is operating. Do not add glycol to the
suction side of the pump as damage to the pump seals could ensue.
CAUTION
Electrical power is needed at the unit to drive the valve gear during waterside commissioning.
Electrical installation and commissioning must be fully completed before the waterside installation
and commissioning can take place.
