How to Execute the Eye Opening Measurement

To run the Eye Opening measurement:

1

Switch to the 

Analysis

 panel and then press the 

Eye Opening

 icon.

Press the 

Start

 button to execute the measurement.

The measurement is run and the display is continually updated. The following

illustration shows the eye diagram of the measured bit error rate and-in the tabular

view-the calculated results for the 

Time Eye Opening

, the 

Threshold Eye

Opening

, the 

Optimal Sample Delay

 and the 

Optimal Sample Threshold

.

How to Optimize the View of the Results

After you have run a measurement, the resulting graph and the calculated

numerical values are displayed. To improve the results, you can change the

measurement parameters:

Press the 

Properties

 button to open the 

Properties

 dialog box.

Use the different tabs in this dialog box to make the required settings:

Parameters

 tab

These settings are used while the measurement is running. Changes require

to run the test again. See 

“Parameters Tab” on page 295

 for details.

Pass/Fail

 tab

These settings determine whether the calculated results are recognized as

passed or failed. However, a new test run is not required when doing

changes here. See 

“Pass/Fail Tab” on page 296

 for details.
