Understanding the N4916A De-Emphasis Signal Converter
The N4916A De-Emphasis Signal Converter can be connected between
the Data Out port of the pattern generator and the DUT. It converts the
generated rectangular NRZ signal to a de-emphasized differential signal.
De-emphasized signals are used to adapt the signal waveform to the
characteristics of real transmission lines as found on printed circuit
boards. They can considerably reduce the impact of Intersymbol
Interference (ISI) and hence allow longer signal paths. De-emphasized
signals are prescribed by a couple of popular standards for high-speed
data transmission.
