The heater fuel train and fuel supply shall be inspected for leaks to verify the gas tightness of the fuel train and
fuel supply components and piping under normal operating conditions. After installation and annually
thereafter use a solution of soap and water to check fittings and pipe for leaks.
The fuel supply individual shutoff valve must be disconnected from the fuel supply piping system during any
pressure testing of that system at test pressures in excess of 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa). The heater must be isolated from
the fuel supply piping system by closing its individual manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the
fuel supply piping system at test pressures to or less than 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa).
The gas tightness of the solenoids can be checked by adding test gauges to the test ports of the main solenoid
valves. While the heater is running turn off the manual shutoff at the inlet fuel supply to the heater. Monitor
the pressure of the upstream and axial pressure gages. If the pressure of any of the gauges drops to zero there
could be a leak in the system. Use a solution of soap and water to find the source of the leak.
Bleeds and vents shall be vented away from sources of ignition.
Bleeds and vents shall be vented away from any persons who come near this system.
Important
Note the original orientation of the pressure relief valves in this system. The original orientation of the
pressure relief valves is shown in the fuel train (See Appendix Section). If removal of components or
maintenance is necessary, return all pressure relief valves to their original orientation
6.6. Pressure Regulator Maintenance
This heater contains a (gas) pressure regulator on top of the unit. Make certain the vent screen is clear at all
times.
Important
•
Tampering with the regulator voids the warranty.
•
Regulator replacement must be performed at the factory or be performed by a qualified gas
technician approved by AGI.
Death or serious injury due to fire or explosion could result from an improperly connected
pressure regulator. The regulator must be installed by an approved representative.
6.7. Electrical Maintenance
All electrical components are in the electrical box on the top of the heater. The electrical components should
not require any maintenance.
6.8. Access Door
Installed to the heater is an access door that can be removed to check internal burner components.
To prevent personal injury:
• Do not operate the heater with the access door removed.
• Make certain internal components are cool before performing any maintenance on internal
components.
