CHAPTER 10:
BASIC EZ-SET CONTROLLER OPERATION
NOTE
This chapter describes the general operation of the EZ-SET
controller. See Chapter 18 for in-depth information concerning
controller installer setup, operation, and menus.
10.1 EZ-SET CONTROLLER INTRODUCTION
The Esteem Boiler Management System is designed to be flexible yet easy to use. The
controller monitors and controls the Esteem boiler to operate as efficiently as possible. The
controller monitors the boiler supply, return and flue gas temperatures and operates the igniter,
gas valve and blower and uses this information to modulate the boiler’s firing rate to maintain the
required setpoint. All controller features are easy to use through a graphical display where
information is presented either graphically or in plain English, so code charts are not required.
Figure 10-1 shows an image of the EZ-SET controller front panel, including menu display,
navigation buttons, ON/OFF switch, Installer button, and temperature gauge.
10.2 EZ-SET CONTROLLER FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS
The EZ-SET controller offers many advanced control options, which may be adjusted for various
applications to achieve optimum boiler efficiency and operation, and includes:
•
Two central / space heating (CH) call inputs with separate outdoor reset curves.
•
Domestic Hot Water (DHW) call input with optional priority.
•
EZ Setup feature allows the installer to quickly customize the EZ-SET controller for each
installation.
•
Cascade function allows up to six boilers to operate together in a single heating system.
•
Modbus interface for integrating with building management systems.
These advanced features are adjustable in the Installer Menu after entering an access
code.
