Explanation of Terms
Multi-Angle DVD
Some DVDs contain scenes fi lmed simultaneously from
various perspectives. With the ANGLE button you can
switch between the scenes during playback whenever a
corresponding symbol appears on the screen.
Chapter Number
DVDs are divided up into chapters. The subdivision into
chapters makes it easier and faster to fi nd a certain
position on the DVD.
DVD
This is the designation for a data carrier on which pictu-
re- and sound signals are stored in high digital quality.
The data is stored in the compression format MPEG2
which makes it possible to store complete fi lms on one
DVD.
Subtitles
Subtitles appear in the lower section of the picture. DVDs
may contain subtitles in up to 32 languages.
OSD Screen Language
The term „OSD screen language“ refers to the language
in which the menus of the player are shown on the
screen.
Synchronised Language
A DVD may contain up to eight synchronised languages.
Playing Time
The playing time shows how much time has passed
since the start of playback of a title or track. With the
number buttons it is possible to defi ne the time at which
playback should begin (this function is not available for
all discs).
Title Number
DVDs may contain several titles. The individual titles
(fi lms) are then designated Title 1, Title 2 etc.
Track Number
On audio CDs each track has its own number. With the
number buttons you can start playback of the desired
track.
