CAUTION
The two interference filters are
not
the same,
nor symmetrical. The filter nearest the front
of the instrument must be the one marked
454 or 4540, and the one furthest from the
front of the instrument must be the one
marked 540. Each filter must have its most-
flush, mirrored side inward toward the
fiberoptic beamsplitter, and its most yellow-
glass side outward, toward the sensor.
Avoid fingerprints on the filter faces. Check
them in oblique light and wipe off any finger-
prints with a clean cotton swab before
mounting.
7. Make sure one O-ring is in place. Using
two retaining screws, reinstall the 454
sensor assembly on the filter block.
8. Remove the two retaining screws holding
the 540 sensor assembly.
9. Gently pull out the 540 sensor assembly
for access to the interference filter. Avoid
losing the O-ring.
10. Tap the filter block as necessary to dis-
lodge and remove the 540-nm interfer-
ence filter. Replace it with the appropri-
ate filter from the BR2650 filter kit
(observe CAUTION, above).
11. Make sure
one
O-ring is in place. Using
two retaining screws, reinstall the 540
sensor assembly on the filter block.
