Step 4

Connect the OTH unit to the THC unit using the SCSI bus cable.

Step 5

Prepare the earth wires and earth both the THC and OTH unit.

Step 6

Connect the OTH unit and THC unit to separate AC power sources.

Step 7

Connect the THC unit to an NCU2E or NCU-II.

Step 8

Connect an alarm device to the OTH unit.

Step 9

Connect the OTH optical ports.

Step 10 Turn on the OTH and THC units.

End of Procedure

It is essential that you perform the main steps in the order they are listed above.

For details on installing the OTDR, refer to the 

OTDR Installation, Provisioning, 

and Operations Manual.

Verifying the Basic Installation

The following is a short checklist for the final inspection of the basic installation 
of a multi-shelf system:

•

All shelves including the optional OTDR unit have been mounted in their 
predetermined positions in the rack.

•

All shelves have been mounted in the proper sequence.

•

All shelves and the PDU (if installed on the top of the rack) have been prop-
erly secured to the rack.

•

All required ancillary equipment, especially vertical cable ducts has been 
installed.

•

All shelves, the PDU, and the rack are correctly earthed, and all earthing 
screws have been tightened properly.
