Instructions for Installing the Module
To install the DS3-PSM, perform the following steps:
1. If present, remove the Common Module Blank from the appropriate common module (A or
B) slot of the Total Access 3000/3010 chassis.
2. Pull the ejector latch, located on the lower left-hand side of the DS3-PSM front panel, from
its closed position.
3. Hold the DS3-PSM by the front panel while supporting the bottom edge of the module with
the ejector latch opened to engage the chassis edge.
4. Align the module edges to fit in the lower and upper guide grooves for the module slot.
5. Slide the module into the module slot. Simultaneous thumb pressure at the top (above the
POWER
LED) and at the bottom (below the electrostatic caution symbol) of the module will
ensure that the module is firmly positioned against the backplane of the chassis.
6. Secure the DS3-PSM in place by pushing in on the ejector latch.
When the DS3-PSM first powers up, self-tests are performed. Once the self-tests are
complete, the status LEDs display the operational state of the module. A stable
configuration illuminates the
POWER
LED green or yellow and the
ONLINE
LED illuminates
green on the online PSM, and is off on the offline PSM. The

and
LOCKOUT
LED colors can vary depending on the situation, refer to
for LED descriptions.
7. Route the CAT 5e cable to the downstream ESM position on Expansion shelf 1, and use
the ESM installation procedure to connect and secure it. The DS3-PSM to ESM
connections must be made between modules in the same common slot position (DS3-
PSMs in common Slot A must connect to ESMs in slot A, and slot B connects to slot B).
Connect and Logon
The DS3-PSM can only be provisioned via the Total Access 3000 PCU. For logon and
connection information, see the Total Access 3000/3010 HDX Primary Controller Unit (PCU)
Installation and Maintenance Practice (P/N 61181918L1-5) or the Total Access High Density
Expansion (HDX) System Manual (P/N 61181918L1-1).
