Saving documents in EPS format
The most common way of sharing Illus-
trator artwork is to save the artwork
as an EPS file. Virtually all page layout,
word processing, and graphic applica-
tions accept imported or placed EPS
files. Unlike many other graphic file
formats, EPS files preserve all of the
graphic elements you can create with
Adobe Illustrator.
Illustrator documents saved as EPS files
remain Illustrator documents. You can
double-click an Illustrator EPS file to
start Illustrator and open the document.
Most applications cannot display EPS
artwork directly, but they can display a
preview image saved as part of the EPS
file. When working with other applica-
tions, you can use the preview image to
locate and size the EPS artwork. See

for a description of the preview options.
To save a document as an EPS file:

Choose File > Save As.
