Including placed EPS files in Illustrator 
documents

 

By default, when you save a document 
that contains a placed EPS file, the 
placed file remains as a separate ele-
ment that is linked to the Illustrator doc-
ument. You can incorporate the placed 
file into the Illustrator document and 
break the link between the placed file 
and its original application. 

 

To include placed EPS files in an 
Illustrator document:

Open the Illustrator document 

containing placed EPS files.

Choose File > Save As.

Choose Illustrator EPS from the 

Format pop-up menu, and click Save.

In the EPS Format menu, select the 

Include Placed EPS Files option, and the 
preview and compatibility options. 

 

5

 

Click OK.

The document is saved in Illustrator 
EPS file format with the placed artwork 
included.
