Using the measure tool

The measure tool calculates the dis-
tance between any two points in the 
work area. When you measure from one 
point to another, the distance measured 
is displayed in the Info palette. The Info 
palette shows the horizontal and verti-
cal distance traveled from the x and y 
axes, the absolute horizontal and verti-
cal distance, the total distance, and the
angle measured. 

All measurements except the angle are 
calculated by 

defining ruler units

 in the 

General Preferences dialog box or in the 
Document Setup dialog box.
