The Source Code palette
The Source Code palette lets you work in the Layout Editor, Frame Editor, or Outline Editor and see the underlying
source code at same time. If you use two monitors, you can view a document in the Layout Editor on one monitor,
and view the underlying source code in the Source Code palette on the second monitor. Changes you make in the
Layout Editor are reflected in the Source Code palette, and vice versa, after you click in the Layout Editor again.
You can set the Source Code palette to Local Mode to display only the code for the elements currently selected in the
Layout Editor, Frame Editor, or Outline Editor.
To use the Source Code palette

In the Layout Editor, Frame Editor, or Outline Editor, choose Window > Source Code to display the palette.
2 Choose any of the following from the Source Code palette menu:
Local Mode Displays the code for the currently selected element only in the Layout Editor, Frame Editor, or Outline
Editor.
Word Wrap Wraps the contents to the margin of the Source Code palette. If you resize the palette with this option
enabled, the contents wrap to the palette’s new size.
Display Line Numbers Shows code line numbers.
Dim When Inactive Dims the contents of the Source Code palette when you’re working in the Layout Editor, Frame
Editor, or Outline Editor. The dimming turns off when you click in the Source Code palette.
Using the Visual Tag Editor
Editing individual elements with the Visual Tag Editor
The Visual Tag Editor lets you inspect and edit the source code of a single HTML element in the Layout Editor
without having to use the Source Code Editor or Source Code palette. The Visual Tag Editor also lets you insert new
source code.
The Visual Tag Editor is a good tool for making quick, on-the-fly changes to the source code of a document without
leaving the Layout Editor. If you need to perform more extensive editing of the source code, use the Source Code
Editor or Source Code palette instead.
