Hypertext and PDF
FrameMaker 7.0 locks the document, making it view-only, and activates hypertext links.

Lock each remaining document by clicking in a document, then clicking Make View-
Only in the Hypertext dialog box. Leave the dialog box open.

From the book file, hold down Shift and choose File > Save All Files in Book.
Now that the files are locked and saved, you can test them more fully.

Display the HyperTOC.fm file to view the table of contents.

Click the page number of a TOC entry to display that page.

Right-click or Control-click (Mac OS) on the document to display the context menu.
This context menu contains several handy commands for getting around in view-only
documents.

Choose Last Page from the context menu.

Display the HyperIX.fm file to view the index.

Click a page number for an index entry to display that page.

Display the Hyper1.fm file again and find one of the purple, underlined cross-refer-
ences on page 3.
Otto von Guericke
Otto von Guericke (1602
1686) a Mayor of Magdeburg in Germany, was an
amateur scientist who had constructed all manner of
gadgets. One of them was a machine consisting of
two glass discs revolving in opposite directions
which produced high voltage charges through fric-
tion.
Alessandro Volta
A signi cant breakthrough
occurred when Alessandro Volta (1745 1827) in It-
aly constructed a simple electric cell (in 1799) which
produced a ow of electrons by chemical means.
