Changing the layout
The preface and chapters in the book use a side-head area at the left side of each page.
To make the TOC consistent with the rest of the book, you’ll apply the same layout.
First convert the TOC’s own page number to roman, like in the Preface.fm file.
1
Choose Format > Document > Numbering.
2
In the first pop-up area, select Page.
3
Click on First Page # and type
1
if it isn’t already there.
4
In the Format pop-up area, select
roman (xiv)
and click Set. Observe the number at the
top right corner of the Table of Contents document. It is in roman numerals.
Next you’ll format the page layout of the text contents of the TOC itself.
5
Click anywhere in the table of contents, and then choose Format > Customize
Layout > Customize Text Frame.
6
Select Room for Side Heads. Change the Width to 92. Verify that the Gap is 14 and the
Side is set to Left.
7
Click Set. The entries move into the body-text area at the right side of the text frame.
