WorldDSL-ETSI Model EFM-832 Fuse Alarm Module protects shelf-mounted line
units from over current conditions at the exchange office power supply. The EFM-832 mounts
externally on the EMS-832 Exchange Office Management Shelf.
The exchange office power supply is connected to -48 Vdc inputs on the EFM-832 Fuse
Alarm Module. The fuse-protected outputs of the EFM-832 are connected to the -48 Vdc
inputs on the shelf.
An overcurrent condition at the exchange office power supply opens a protection fuse on the
EFM-832. An open protection fuse routes exchange office power to local alarms, signaling
the overcurrent condition.
