HOW TO USE THE EINAR CAMERA
This chapter gives you a quick overview of using Einar and what to look out for when installing and
operating the camera.
8.1.
CAMERA INSTALLATION
1.
Mount the camera as follows (Please refer to the
:
a.
If you want to store events in the camera, insert the microSD card.
b.
If you want to use the camera's input and output, mount the GPIO cable kit to the ca-
mera.
c.
For communication with the camera, use at least Cat5E outdoor shielded cable.
d.
Use a PoE+ rated PoE power adapter or a switch output capable of PoE+. If neither is
available, you can also power the camera with 48V DC.
e.
Mount/secure the camera firmly in its intended location.
f.
Ground the camera, preferably using the grounding point on the camera, or at least
using an FTP cable grounded at the PoE power supply end
–
e.g., switch
–
but take
care not to create a ground loop.
g.
The maximum angle of rotation and/or tilt of the camera should not exceed 25
–
30
degrees.
h.
The optical axis of the camera should face the license plate of the oncoming or de-
parting vehicle. The camera's optical axis shall be as small an angle as possible with
the axis of travel of passing vehicles.
i.
The camera should be at least one meter above the headlights of vehicles. If possible,
it should not be accessible without an assistive device. If the camera is mounted comp-
letely unprotected outdoors, it is recommended to mount it higher to minimize the risk
of water falling on the front of the camera when raining.
j.
Use the waterproofing cap that protects the RJ45 connector included in the package.
Note that the cap must be fitted to the cable before the RJ45 plug is installed.
k.
In the image, the license plate should be horizontal. In extreme cases, it may be ne-
cessary to turn the mounting bracket.
l.
Adjust the camera lens angle of view {
} so that the characters on the li-
cense plate are at least 20
–
25 pixels high
—
but no more than 50
–
60 pixels. Consider
whether you want to recognize license plates with small character sizes. For example,
