ADA GCS-6 STEREO GUITAR CABINET SIMULATOR / DI
USER GUIDE
The GCS-6 is a Stereo/Dual Mono Direct Injection (DI) box with two independent, user adjustable guitar cabinet simulations, an auxiliary input with level control and two
headphone outputs, designed for the studio, stage and silent practice. The GCS-6 is an all-analog circuit that uses a 12-volt AC adapter or a pedal board power supply at
150mA or more.
•
Turn two full-range passive or powered monitor speakers or sound system into two dynamic guitar cabinets
•
Record directly from your pedal board without speakers or microphones or use one of the (2) HEADPHONE OUTPUTS for silent practice
•
Get guitar cabinet feedback from your stage monitor
•
Connect directly to the outputs of your power amp by inserting the GCS-6 between the power amp outputs and your speaker cabinets or load box
•
Two full frequency range DI boxes in FULL RANGE mode
•
Two independent cabinet simulations in one enclosure
•
Real cabinet resonance at all levels and driver compression at high levels adds an organic depth and realism to your guitar tone
•
Play along to recorded material using the AUX IN with level control
CONTROLS
▪
Selectable INPUT switch for Stereo or Dual Mono routing.
▪
Selectable VINTAGE (alnico) or MODERN (ceramic) speaker character. We have focused two speakers, alnico (Jensen) and ceramic (Celestion and Eminence)
▪
Selectable AMERICAN or BRITISH speaker cone types for high-mid coloration
▪
Selectable SEALED or OPEN BACK cabinet types
to emphasize the cabinet’s natural resonance between low and mid frequencies
▪
Selectable
12” or 10” speaker size
▪
Two variable MICROPHONE PLACEMENT controls
to “position” the mic at the EDGE for deep or CENTER for bright frequency responses
▪
¼” phone jacks INPUT A and INPUT B with two direct, un-buffered PASS THROUGH ¼” phone jacks. This effectively splits the signal to feed both a guitar
amplifier and a mixing console or for connecting a speaker cabinet or load box
▪
POWER AMP DIRECT CONNECT with two 20dB INPUT PADS, allows for inserting the GCS-6 between a power amp output and speaker cabinet or load box.
▪
Balanced OUTPUTS with selectable LINE/MIC LEVEL with a GROUND LIFT switch for Pin 1
▪
¼” phone and 3.5mm HEADPHONE OUTPUTS with a VOLUME control for 16 to 300 Ohms.
▪
CABINET SELECT switch allows for Stereo, Dual Mono or Mono monitoring
▪
3.5mm AUX IN jack for connecting auxiliary devices. The AUX LEVEL adjusts the volume of the simulated signal that is sent to the HEADPHONE outputs
▪
CAB SIM LEVEL control adjusts the volume of the simulated signal that is sent to the HEADPHONE outputs
HOOK-UP
We do not recommend plugging your guitar directly into the INPUTS of the GCS-6 without first plugging into an effects pedal or buffer. The GCS-6 accepts signal levels from
pedal boards (guitar level) and preamp outputs (line level) or (with the INPUT PADS switched
“IN” to 20dB PAD), power amp levels. Please note that the GCS-6 is NOT A
LOAD BOX and the power amplifier must remain connected to the speakers or have a proper impedance load connected to it in place of the speakers. Preamp, line level
and pedal board level signals can also be connected to the INPUTS of the GCS-6 when the 20dB INPUT PADS are switched out. The GCS-6 HEADPHONE outputs and
AUX IN have independent level controls so you can listen to the cabinet simulation and play along to recorded material in total isolation. Be sure to
USE ONLY STEREO
HEADPHONES
rated between 16 and 300 ohms impedance to ensure proper performance.
USING THE BALANCED OUTPUTS
The GCS-6 has both single-ended ¼-inch phone jacks and balanced XLR OUTPUTS, and both work simultaneously. For most sound systems, the XLR balanced outputs are
preferred because it avoids common audio problems such as ground loops, signal bleed and degradation. The GROUND LIFT switches are used to isolate the signal ground
of your equipment coming into the GCS-6 from the signal fed to the console. This avoids line frequency hum in your audio signal. The XLR balanced outputs can be set at
LINE or MIC level and the shields from the XLR cables are connected to the GCS-6 enclosure.
