We’ll review the easy steps on how to connect any WPS-enabled
wireless device to a wireless modem, router or access point.
We’ll cover how to connect both devices using the WPS button.
Why do I want a WPS button?
If each wireless device
has a WPS button, you simply press the button on each device
and they will find each other and connect securely. You will no
longer need to enter the network name and wireless password
or encryption key.
Things You’ll Need
•
A WPS-enabled wireless device or adapter
•
Wireless modem, router or access point (preferably with WPS
as well)
Step
1
Press the WPS button on your wireless
modem, router or access point for at
least two full seconds. For many routers,
the WPS button will flash.
Step

Now go to the wireless adapter or
device and press its WPS button. Make
sure to press the button within 120
seconds (2 minutes) after pressing the router’s WPS button.

If you are using a Wireless adapter
connected to a computer, a “WPS
Authentication” screen will appear. Wait until the screen says
“Authentication succeeded.” This may take a few minutes.

Try and surf the Internet wirelessly. If you can, then you have
successfully connected the two wireless devices using WPS.
Note:
If either of the wireless devices that you want to connect do NOT have a
WPS button, then you’ll need to connect them the old fashioned way.
