10. Troubleshooting
The following sections provide instructions on how to proceed when encountering a
problem with the PCS6000. It is addressed to qualified personnel who are responsible for
servicing the PCS6000.
10.1. Safety
Before you begin, read and understand the general safety instructions in
chapter 2,
DANGER
Hazardous voltage!
The PCS6000 is a medium voltage high power device. The dangerous voltage
inside the PCS6000 can lead to life-threatening situations, injury of the persons
involved or damage to equipment.
▶ Always use proper tools and equipment which are certified for medium voltage
applications.
▶ After switching off the PCS6000 frequency converter, there is still voltage on
the auxiliary energy distributor of the converter control system.
▶ There can also be external auxiliary and control voltages (eg, of measuring
circuits) even if the internal auxiliary power supply is switched off.
▶ Before doing any work on these circuits, make sure that the corresponding
external voltage sources are switched off and secured according to the safety
rules.
▶ After completing all work, switch the PCS6000 back on according to the
instructions in section 8.6,
Starting the PCS6000 converter
WARNING
High temperatures, risk of burns!
Rails, reactors, resistors and fuses can be hot.
CAUTION
Cooling fans and pumps can start automatically!
The water cooling system and the cooling fans may start automatically as soon as
the auxiliary voltage is switched on or when the EMERGENCY OFF button is
released, even if the PCS6000 is de-energized.
▶ Switch off the corresponding motor protection switches (see diagrams
contained in the cabinet specific documentation) to shut down the cooling
system.
