4.3. Construct foundation of the ABB Pole
4.3.1. Options
Use the correct foundation for the type of surface that the ABB Pole will be installed on:
Soil
(option 1, most common)
Use a concrete foundation (pre-fabricated or poured concrete foundation on site) to
get a firm fixation on soil.
Based on the engineering calculations done with respect to the forces exerted by the
pole and based on the local requirements (soil/land type, seismic, wind, etc.), concrete
can be poured on site to prepare the foundation of the pole. It is required to be made
sure that there are holes for cable entry and exit to come to, and to go out of the pole
base.
A pre-fabricated concrete foundation can be ordered separately. See section
on Page 19. For detail drawings see Appendix G
Dimensions pre-
fabricated concrete foundation Pole
.
Soil
(option 2)
Use a tube foundation to get a firm fixation on soil. This tube foundation can be used
if there are space restrictions, for example close to a building. Contact the ABB Sales
department for more information and possibilities, see
on Page 13
for contact details.
Solid floor
The local contractor is responsible to make the calculations if the floor can handle the
force of the pole. Contact the ABB Sales department when you want to mount the ABB
pole on a concrete floor, see
on Page 13 for contact details.
The cables must be embedded in the ground with cable conduits. See section
Page 46 and section
on Page 33.
4.3.2. Pole foundation constructed on site or mounted on concrete floor
The local contractor is responsible to make the calculations if the floor can handle the force
using 16 bolts or the custom designed concrete foundation.
Reactions on the concrete foundation, originating from the steel structure.
