Communication profiles
What this chapter contains
This chapter describes the communication profiles used in the
communication between the Ethernet POWERLINK master, the
adapter module and the drive.
Communication profiles
Communication profiles are ways of conveying control commands
(Control word, Status word, references and actual values) between
the master station and the drive.
You can configure the adapter module to provide either the
CANopen CiA 402 (Device Profile Drives and Motion Control)
profile or the ABB Drives profile. Both are converted to the native
profile (eg, DCU or FBA) by the adapter module. In addition, two
Transparent profiles – for 16-bit and 32-bit words respectively – are
available. With the Transparent modes, no data conversion takes
place in the module.
