Planning the electrical

installation

Contents of this chapter

This chapter contains instructions for planning the electrical installation of the drive,
for example, for checking the compatibility of the motor and drive, selecting cables,
protections and cable routing.

Installation must be designed and done according to the applicable local laws
and regulations. ABB does not assume any liability whatsoever for any

installation which breaches the local laws and/or other regulations.

If recommendations given by ABB are not followed, the drive may experience
problems that the warranty does not cover

.

Checking the compatibility of the motor and drive

Use an asynchronous AC induction motor or a permanent magnet motor with the
drive. Several induction motors can be connected to the drive at a time but only one
permanent magnet motor can be connected to the drive at a time.

Make sure that the motor and the drive are compatible according to the

page

. The ratings table lists the typical motor power for each drive type.
