Align the Wash Head with the needle, and the bracket with
the two thumbscrew posts, as shown at right.

Push the Wash Head/bracket set upwards into place.

Screw on both thumbscrews tightly.
9.4.2
Deep Cleaning
Deep Cleaning should be performed as an emergency cleaning
procedure when an analyzer is displaying a trend of high HCT
(particularly due to increasing MCV), even when routine Soak
Cleaning has been regularly performed. This procedure will per-
form a more thorough cleaning of the HM5. Call Abaxis Techni-
cal Support before performing this procedure.
This procedure requires a lint-free cloth moisturized with dis-
tilled water, a new tube of HemaClean and an in-date (not
expired) unopened HM5 normal control.

Open the side door and identify the Wash Head (

Circle
) and the dilution chamber (
Blue Rectangle
).

If salt or blood debris is found on the Wash Head pro-
ceed to clean the Wash Head:
