Gathering Site Information 25
One Server Pair If your VCX system contains one pair of servers, all software components,
including UMS are included.
■
You must dedicate six IP addresses, one for each of the two NICs in
each of the two servers, plus two more for use by the UMS Intelligent
Mirroring software.
■
You must also dedicate IP addresses for use by the gateways:
■
Each analog gateway requires one IP address
■
Each digital gateway with 8 or fewer T1 spans requires one IP
address
■
Each digital gateway with more than 8 T1 spans requires two IP
addresses
■
You must know the appropriate subnetwork mask for the network
segment on which you plan to install the servers.
■
You must know the IP address of the network gateway for that
network segment.
Two Server Pairs If your VCX system has two server pairs, one pair is dedicated to UMS.
The other pair contains all other software components.

You must dedicate ten IP addresses, one for each of the two NICs in
each of the four servers, plus two more for use by the UMS Intelligent
Mirroring software.
