Using the USB Key

The USB Key is used in the following three ways. Remove the cap of the USB Key and insert it
into the USB connector (Connect it to the USB1.1 or the USB2.0 port).

 Reading files in the USB Key

Use a personal computer with Microsoft Windows 2000 or higher installed as its operating
system.

 Using it as a network key

Use it to connect to a personal computer without NetPlasma registration.
A personal computer without registration must already have a wireless LAN environment.
NetPlasma must be used to write wireless settings in advance. For detailed information, speak
to your system administrator or read the “NetPlasma Operating instructions for Administrator”.

Recommended personal computer specifications

Insert the USB Key into the USB connector of the personal computer you want to

connect to.

Operate it according to instructions on the NetPlasma Connector screen that is

displayed on the personal computer.

Be sure to exit from NetPlasma Connector after use. (Settings will automatically

return to their defaults.)

Always be sure to follow the instructions on “Removing the USB key” when

removing the USB key.

Names of parts and LED display

LED display
Lit green:

 Indicates that USB key is connected to

personal computer.

Flashing green:

 Indicates that data is being read,

written or copied from computer.

 

Prohibition

Never remove USB key while LED is flashing. Doing so may result in improper computer
operation or in loss or damage to data or USB key.

Bringing the USB key into a cold, unheated
room or raising the temperature of the
room rapidly could cause condensation to
form in the product. This could not only
cause the product to perform improperly
but could also result in damage to the
product. If this happens, leave the product
unused until the condensation dries and
raise the temperature of the room gradually
before use.

Never subject the device to shocks or
vibrations or remove the USB key while
data is being read or written.

Never turn off the power to your computer
while data is being read from or written to
the USB key. Doing so could result in the
loss or damage of internal data.

Always be sure that there is no data (i.e.,
files) on the USB key before performing an
initialization. Failing to do so could result in
the loss of data.

Performing any of the following operations
while the USB key is connected to your
computer could result in it failing to operate
properly: startup, restart, or recovery from
standby or sleep mode.
