This S-Quad programming tool
(S4-BASE-PROGRAM) is used test and program
S-Quad speech products.
Definitions
Phrase
- A phrase is a file that contains the
information from a wave file and additional
information such as a description of the speech or
sound.
Image
- An image is a collection of Phrases and
other information that can be used to program a
sounder.
Project
- A project is a description that refers to a
specific site or customer e.g. Heathrow Terminal 1
or Walkabout Inns.
Article
- An Article is a part number for an image.
For example article number for the standard
English audio file for S-Quad is PA020001. For
each article number there is an associated version
number.
Downloading software
and Image files
An S-Quad Speech product can be programmed
using a software called
'tools4sounderApp'
using
image
file.

Go to
GentExpert
web application at the
following web address:
http://www.gentexpert.co.uk/
and follow the
instructions on the initial page to enter the
application.
b.
Create a directory structure in which to store
the downloaded files. Below is a suggested
directory structure for software and standard
images.

Find
setup.exe.zip 29/07/2005 file
in
GentExpert and save it to the local
software
directory. Find the required
image file(s)
in
GentExpert and save it to the local
image
directory.
d.
Unzip the program and Run setup.exe. By
default the program will install at
"C:\novar\tools\tools 4 Sounder\".
e.
Once you have run the setup program you may
need to modify the COM PORT setting in the
tools4sounder.ini
file (it defaults to COM1).
The SampleRate parameter should also be
changed to 13kHz.
