Refilling Instructions

For Epson Stylus Color 680/680T/685/777/777i• T018 • T029 Tri-Color Ink Cartridges

Kit Contents:

1. Remove ink cartridge from printer and place on work surface with ink ports facing up.

See Figure 1.

2. Using cotton wipe, clean area around ink ports so that the surfaces are clean and dry.

3. Peel round pressure sensitive seal from backer and affix firmly over an ink

port. Repeat this procedure to seal the two other ports. See Figure 2.

4.

Turn cartridge over and locate the top edge of the rectangular label. Locate the
"Fill Hole Locator" label, remove its backer and affix it over the cartridge label
so that the top edges of the two labels are aligned with each other. See Figure 3.

5. Using the hole puncturing tool, punch holes into the three spots indicated

on the locator label. See Figure 4.

6. Remove the scabbard from the dispenser of the color you wish to refill. Insert the needle

into the correct fill hole as far as it will go. Then draw the needle back about 1/4” (6mm)
to create a void in the foam sponge. See Figure 5.

7. Dispense the ink into the chamber VERY SLOWLY. Fill until ink just starts

to back up from the fill hole. Withdraw the needle. Recap the ink bottle
and save for future use.

8. Repeat the above procedure for the remaining two colors of ink.

Note: It is a good idea to let the refilled cartridge stand overnight with the

ink ports facing down to allow any air bubble left in the sponge to migrate
to the top of the cartridge and out of the vent holes. It is also a good idea to
keep two cartridges and alternate them so that you can always have a
filled cartridge ready to put in the printer. Keep spare cartridges, ink ports
down, in an airtight container along with a wad of paper towel to retard
evaporation.

9. Replace the electronic chip or reset it using a resetting device or software

reset program of your choice.

10. Replace the cartridge in the printer and run a nozzle check according to Epson’s

instructions. If not all of the nozzles are printing alternate cleaning cycles and
nozzle checks until all nozzles are printing.

11. If ink bottle is not empty recap it for future use.

Refilling your cartridge is a clean and simple job, but it is advisable to cover your work
area with scrap paper to protect from accidental spills.

Note: Empty cartridges should be refilled as soon as they run out of ink to prevent
the small amount of ink remaining in the cartridge from drying and hardening the sponge.
